CJ Hueston
is proof that a company reflects its owner. Like CJ, the atmosphere
at CDI is energetic, organized, efficient, and professional.
When she blows into a room, everyone knows it. She has hit the
ground running before anyone else has landed.
"Yes," she
admits, talking at the speed of light, "I'm type-A."
It has been
that way since she started out as a classroom teacher. Even
then her goal was to be the first woman superintendent in the
state. She was with the Collier County School District for
seven years. She quickly moved from the classroom to positions
as principal and district office administrator, but then was
lured by the prospect of working in private industry.
The Barron
Collier Companies, a family-owned organization with interests
in real estate and development, agriculture, and oil and gas
exploration, hired CJ in 1986. She became president of its
fleet management company, International Automated Energy Systems
(IAES). CJ led the company through a period of major growth,
working with companies such as Exxon, Shell Oil, Amoco, and
Citgo. She brokered a partnership with Visa to provide a national
fleet card for fuel purchases across the country.
At IAES,
CJ did all of the hiring--and it was never easy. She came to
realize how important it was to choose the right people, capitalize
on their strengths, and put them together in teams that complemented
each other. She understands the importance of finding people
who fit into a particular corporate culture. She also often
wished for outside help--someone who would keep on the lookout
for qualified people for her company and bring them to her
attention.
After spending
12 years in the corporate world, CJ caught the entrepreneurial
spirit and founded Corporate Dimensions Inc. to offer companies
the type of hiring help she used to wish for. CDI is now in
its third year and growing fast. The company focuses on local,
regional, and national placements of qualified professionals.
CJ stays
involved in her local community, serving as vice-chair of the
board of trustees for International College, a member of the
board for the Naples Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the
Drill Advisory Board to the Sheriff of Collier County.
